NK Koffie
De Nederlandse Koffiekampioenschappen
Dutch Barista
Six outstanding baristas each have exactly 15 minutes to present four identical espressos, four identical milk drinks (such as cappuccino), and four signature drinks to the international jury. They can get creative with the signature drinks, as long as they contain espresso and no alcohol. The jury will be looking at taste and neatness, but above all at presentation. A good barista is (also) a true host or hostess and a born storyteller.
New content item
Speed, good senses, and unparalleled focus are what this competition requires. In this challenging competition, eight sets of three cups of coffee are placed in a triangle of which 2 are identical and one is different. The goal is to identify the correct different cup from all eight sets as quickly as possible. The audience can see for themselves how the baristas are doing. All selected cups are lifted one by one to see if there is a sticker underneath, if there is, it is the correct cup.
Dutch Brewers
Six baristas prepare four identical cups of (modern) filter coffee. It is up to a professional jury to determine who does it best. Taste is one factor, but consistency between the four preparations is just as important. In the preliminary round the participants worked with a mandatory sort of coffee, but in this final they are allowed to choose their own coffee. Expect impressive coffee grinders, precision work, and the most modern filter brewing methods.
Dutch Latte
Not every competition is about taste. The Dutch Latte Art Championship is purely about looks. Good contrast between the white milk foam and the brown crema of the espresso, but above all the most beautiful figures. Each of the six finalists pours two sets of identical ‘free pour lattes’ and one set of identical designer lattes (here they are also allowed to draw with tools and use food colouring, among other things).
