Beer drafting is a real profession, as demonstrated every year during the Dutch Beer Drafting Championship, organized by Stichting Tapwedstrijden.The ultimate goal of this competition is to draw attention to the perfectly drafted beer and to activate the pride, passion, and craftmanship of bartenders. Throughout the year, local qualifications take place in various locations in the Netherlands. All winners of the local competitions will compete for the title of Best Beer Drafter in the Netherlands on Thursday 15 January 2026. 

In the regional qualification rounds of the Dutch Championship, participants had to draft two flutes and two vases one by one. If participants make it through these preliminary rounds and qualify for a place in the final, things get more complicated. They then have to tap two flutes and two vases at the same time and serve a special beer at the table. The bartenders are judged on various points during the drafting and serving. The competition glasses have lines on them, allowing the jury to measure the perfect amount of foam. Of course, the experience counts as well. Is the beer served with pride? Do you get a friendly smile or look for free? It all counts towards ultimately crowning the Best Beer Drafter in the Netherlands!
