Donation Room: donate for charities

What is the Donation Room?

We are grateful to organize and facilitate Horecava in a wonderful city like Amsterdam.
At the same time, we are aware of the impact that large events can have on the city and its residents. That is why we are looking for ways to give something back to the local community wherever possible.

After discussions with various social initiatives in the region, it became clear that there is a great need for items and products that are often left behind after events at RAI Amsterdam. This need gave rise to the Donation Room. Exhibitors are given the opportunity to donate leftover products and materials that match the wishes and needs of affiliated initiatives.

Why is Horecava implementing the Donation Room?

Food waste is everywhere. In the Dutch hospitality industry, an average of more than 51 million kilograms of food ends up in the trash every year. Food waste leads to higher CO2 emissions, with the associated consequences for the climate. This has to change, which is why the hospitality industry is constantly looking for solutions to combat waste. With the help of the RAI Amsterdam Donation Room, we want to do our bit during Horecava. The collected products are used to help people who live below the poverty line, for example. Thanks to surpluses and donations, these initiatives combat food waste and reduce the burden on the environment. On the last day of the fair, exhibitors can donate their leftover products.

Donated items are distributed among various social initiatives in the Amsterdam region, such as De Voedselbank Amsterdam, Leger des Heils Amsterdam, and de Regenboog Groep. This helps people who really need it and gives the items a valuable second life. In addition, the Donation Room also contributes to a sustainable future.
